Our Trip Through "The Beehive State"... UTAH

Why is Utah also called "The Beehive State"?

In 1849 the mormon settlers named it "The State of Deseret" which by the Book of Mormon, is believed to be an ancient word for "Honeybee".  In 1959 the state adopted the Beehive as its astronomical symbol and as their state's insect showcasing it in their flag and seal. It also symbolizes the state's motto "Industry".
